Science Fair
Hundreds of 4th through 12th graders annually participate in the Kern County Science Fair for a chance to move onto the California Science Fair. Students are interviewed to demonstrate understanding of their display, log book and their hypothesis. Entries are judged on scientific thought/engineering goals, creativity, organization, completeness, clarity, effort and motivation.
This year's Science Fair was held March 12, 2024. The Kern County Science Fair is sponsored by the Kern County Science Foundation.

Kern County's ISEF Affiliation
The Kern County Science Fair is affiliated with ISEF, the International Science and Engineering Fair. Every year, tens of millions of students participate in science fairs around the globe but only about 1,800 earn the right to compete for nearly $5 million in awards bestowed each May at ISEF. About Us:
The Kern County Science Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public non-profit organization created in 1988 to promote science and technology education in Kern County.
One of the major events sponsored by the Kern County Science Foundation is the Kern County Regional Science Fair, which as of Fall 2019 is now affiliated with the International Science and Engineering Fair.
The Foundation also funds, fully or partially, student events such as MATHCOUNTS, Middle School Math Field Day, Physics Olympics, AP Calculus & Statistics Contests, and a Rubik's Cube Competition. In addition, the Foundation gives scholarships, provides funding for Summer Science Camps, and provides STEM professional development to teachers, using such programs as GEMS.
